Whether you need to look up a business record or pull information about a particular driver in the state, there are a few available options for you to do so.

How to Search for State Government Records

One of the best ways to get a state government record is to contact the county clerk office where it was filed. Depending on the type of official item you are requesting, you may be required to make a set payment in order to obtain the official documentation. In order to see a full listing of county clerks in the state of Texas, visit the Secretary of State website.  Listed in chronological order, each county clerk contains information about the office’s physical address, as well as their phone number and fax number.

You can also contact the Secretary of State’s public information and response team by calling 512-463-5555. If you would like to reach them via email, send a note to Corpinfo@sos.texas.gov.  Bear in mind that the response team can only provide information lookup and answer general questions.

For records requests in the form of copies or certificates, call 512-463-5578. The hours of operation for the Corporations Section of the Secretary of State is Monday through Friday, from 8 a.m. to 5.p.m.

How to Search for Business Records

If you need to obtain a copy of a business record, visit the Texas Secretary of State website  to review name filings and trademarks, in addition to other pertinent information. You will also be able to learn everything you need to know about nonprofit corporations, mergers and conversions and how to obtain the appropriate forms. If you would like to get information about a particular business through a tax ID, you can do so by going to the TxComptroller eSystems website.  Simply enter the Tax ID number, the entity name or the file number.
